2. The internal valve plate is aging.

Due to the poor uniformity of the valve plate of the lightning arrester, the degree of aging may vary, resulting in uneven distribution of valve plate potential. During operation, the leakage current and power loss of high current generator lightning protection increase. Another reason is that the continuous operating voltage of the lightning arrester is relatively low, which increases the load on the arrester during operation, especially when the system is single-phase grounded, causing rapid aging of the valve.

To avoid the failure of lightning arresters, they should be produced by reputable manufacturers. When repairing lightning arresters, it is necessary to strengthen inspections and promptly detect any abnormalities.
